    Default lumpy abdomen after eating??

I have three American green tree frogs. I fed them today. I was near a petstore today that I don't normally go to....their small crickets aren't as small as I would like but I have given them these before without a problem. But, tonight I have noticed that all three have a lumpy belly on the sides. I see it mainly on the left side. Are they going to be okay?? I have turned off the light and I'm letting them rest to hopefully digest them. I gave them about a total of 12-15 and I saw a few in the tank still.

If the lumps don't go away then I would worry but for now don't panic.

I have experienced this with my WTFs as well, right after feeding. I can only assume that what you're seeing is the cricket inside your frog's belly. I was quite worried after my biggest WTF ate some crickets and when I went to pick him up, had a huge hard lump on the right left side of his belly. This was shocking to say the least, but I decided not to panic and just put him back in his viv for the night, hoping it was just as I had suspected.

The next morning I took Bruce Campbell out to check on him and the lump was completely gone. So hopefully my assumption was correct.

You have to remember, frogs have very thin skin and their organs are packed into a very small space. I think all we're seeing is their undigested food right after they eat a big meal, but if the lumps do not go away completely I would worry about impaction...which is easily fixable in a soak of luke warm water.

    Hope this has helped.

I agree Brit. My frogs seem to have lumpy bellies too if they eat a big meal. I'm sure it is just the crickets, as it has never stuck around for more than a few hours after eating.
