Hi there! My name is Kelsey- and I live in a big mitten in the USA! (Michigan) I own a White's Tree Frog named Leonidas, and two African Dwarf Frogs named B33ST and Jake. I'm new to frogs but ever since I bought my two aquatic ones- I've been amphibian-crazed. I joined this site looking to learn more about Leo as a species- and maybe help me understand the transitions that he'll undertake as time goes by. I'm looking forward to being part of this community!

Welcome. Leonido is a very nice frog.
Thank you for the welcome, guys. It really is nice to have finally found a forum where people can give me tips on frog-care and also help me to learn about other frogs that I might someday want to own.
Wow, small world- Chris. Where from in Mich? I live in Jackson (crappiest town ever.) Hehe.
Thank you Scribbles, Leo is perfect for me- our personalities are really similar. I think he's the most affectionate pet I've had so far.
You're welcome.
Welcome aboard! Just becareful with the dwarf clawed frogs, they are a known carrier of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis or as it is more commonly known as, chytrid. If there is a heater in the clawed frogs' tank crank up the heat to 86 - 88 °F for a period of three days. That should kill off an chytrid that may be present.
In the meantime, whenever you put your hands in the clawed frogs' tank make sure to thoroughly wash your hands with an alchohol gell and let them thoroughly dry before handling your White's (or any other amphibian for that matter).
Welcome from another former Michigander! I'm from Traverse City/Clare/Grand Rapids.

I don't remember where I got that information, but if I am wrong, it can't hurt to err on the side of caution.
Wow, Kurt- thank you for the warning. I'll make sure I take that into account the next time I clean their tank. That was thoughtful of you to tell me that: Because I had no idea.
You're welcome! It a good idea to follow the above mentioned protocols regardless of species kept or the possible disease involved.
Hi EDIBLELOGIC and welcome. I look forward to seeing more of your Frogs.
300 fan eh? Welcome hope you enjoy the website.
HAHAHA yes! That is exactly what I have named him from!
Funny story how he got the name, actually. Because when I first bought him I had first intended on naming him Marley. However, once I set him in his tank- and released a few crickets; he DESTROYED them, almost instantly. I was pretty shocked, and me and my mother just stood and watched him in silence for a minute... and all that was going through my head the entire time was: "THIS IS SPARTA!!!" ... annnnd, that is how he came to be Leonidas.
Thats great he/she sounds very healthy. Leonidas is a very unique name and i hope he lives a long, plump, happy life.
