Hey all!
One of my FBTs is acting strange when swimming, he does circling motions when trying to catch food. His legs are normal and functioning well as far as I can see. he hops normally on land too, though I haven't seen him often there...maybe eyesight problems? i have no clue.
Fred
And neither do I really, sorry. Maybe if you can post some video, that may help with the diagnosis of the problem.
Maybe the trout whirling disease. Probably not though. Does he always swim in one direction for the circle or does he change it? And are you sure he doesn't seem to list to one side or the other when walking/hopping?
Yeah, maybe he needs a front end alignment LOL Sorry couldn't resist the urge to make a joke.
Does your toads enclosure have a filter?? In my first set-up, I had my filter on too high, and my toads would get caught in the whirlpool, going in circles. I drowned quite a few crickets that way too. Once I figured out the filter, the toads were able to swim around the whole pool and no more problems. That is the only thing I can think of-sorry.
Nope there is no filter for the moment (do they really need one in an more aquatic setup, given i change the water weekly and have java moss in there?). I will try to observate him over the course of the next days to spot any anomaly with this toad. thanks for the help so far everyone!
