    Default Hello-I'm new with issues

I'm new to the site and have 2 African clawed frogs (actually my daughters) and 3 American Bullfrogs, which were aquired too prevent them from becoming frog legs in a moment of weakness. They have been treated for Chytrid ( first PCR was positive) and I am awaiting results of the follow up test. In the meantime, one of the Bullfrogs has had an accident (she got caught under her baking dish island) and has broken her front leg. She had surgery and is now recovering . She is getting daily injections of an antibiotic (Baytril). If any of you have any suggestions for frog restraint for sub cutaneous injections (other than growing 4 extra hands) it would be appreciated!

I think very steady hands is probably your best bet. Perhaps a towel over his eyes so he's less scared.

Love your Avatar. I was thinking a wet towel over the head too. I'm not sure how to control the hind leg action though.

Ok this might make it sound like im mad but could you either A) Put her in a small drawstring bag, tightening the bag about her neck or just behind her front legs, a towel over her face and an insicion made though the bag to then insert the needle for her injections.

    B) Towel wrap her , this is tecnique that can be hard to master but essentially to wrap tightly about all the limbs and tuck the animal up like youre making fajitas with a closed bottom or.

I've used both on small animals before when giving oral medicines/dental checks and foot & claw checks. the bag approach works very well for rabbits, which like Frogs have back legs that can make them a trial to keep still - i nthe bag someone can hold them firmly without their feet getting every where.

Good luck and let us know how she goes youre going her a wonderful service as it is.

    Thnk You Mushrooms,
You are not mad! I just gave Feisty Jeremiah her antibiotics using the towel wrap, and it worked well . I actually used 2 small flannels, 1 for her front legs and head, and 1 for her back legs. It took a little adjustment, but got the job done. Bullfrogs have mighty tough skin! I may try out the bag idea as well, but have to make one frog sized first.
    Thanks again!

Brilliant i'm glad it worked out for you I think the bag may be a little easier but anything that makes it quicker and less stress full (on yours and Jeremiah's part) is good! It sounds like she's no worse for wear if she's fighting you about having her injections.

I hope she continues to improve.
