I know these frogs change color with temp/humidity/mood etc But do they also change colors as they grow? When I first got Paddy, she was a silvery green, as she's grown, she's gray. Silvermist was pretty big already when I got her, and she is gray. Oscar was BRIGHT green when I got her, and she is gray now too, but she is considerably smaller than the other two yet, and still turns green sometimes (Paddy and Silvermist do not) Leggy-Log-Orangey, who is the tiniest of the bunch (in my avatar picture) Is very green. Just this past week I've noticed him starting to get some gray mottling on his back on occasion, but a majority of the time, his back is a solid bright green.

I don't know if it's age or not, but I have found they tend to turn a little darker most of the time as they spend more time in captivity. Having said that, on a green background they still turn green, and in bright conditions they still turn nearly white. So background color and light level are likely more important factors than age.

My understanding, with Hyla chyrsoscelis at least, is that skin darkens as temps and light levels lower, and brighten with the reverse. I do know that new morphs tend to start out pretty lime colored. Unfortunately, all of that is observation of wild frogs.
I have noticed that when we build vivariums they tend to be much darker than natural/wild conditions.
The one set of captive Hyla versicolor/chrysoscelis I dealt with that stayed mostly green were set in a shelf opposite a northeast facing window and got indirect sunlight most of the day.
