Default Solution for a hex tank top?

Would it work to use my aquarium top to cover the hex tank for my frogs? It is 3/4 plexiglass with a bend in the middle. I could cover the remaining 1/4 with a metal screen cut out from a hardware store? (I would cover the sharp edges with electrical tape and it would rest in the ledge of the tank), would there be enough air exchange for that to be healthy? I also plan on loading the tank with live plants. Would that help keep the air healthy?

If that would work, I have a great hood light that was brand new when I took my aquarium down, I would just replace the bulb with a blue daylight bulb and that solves having to get a new light fixture!

Does that sound like it will work to anyone? I still need to figure out what type of lightbulb I'll need too....haven't taken time to dig it up lol

Opal was in a hex until he got to two inches. I used mine just fir a juvie tank. I found that the tank too hummid in summer, air flow restricted, I would run a fan to bounce air off the ceiling and into the tank. My opening is only 4 x2 , I used plastic window screen and fabric glue. It's called liquid stich, non toxic and smells like elmers glue. It has a real strong bond.

I think it would make a nice dart tank. Eventually

We have an 80g hex and your idea sounds good. My husband put together a screen insert for the back portion where the fish stuff used to be. He add a small computer fan to blow across it and it provides just enough air movement to help keep the glass fairly clear.

The tank has been in use for several years now and it needs a makeover. It has a water feature, a false bottom, and a tiny pond. The current occupants are two female Cobalts. Once they've made there way to new homes, we'll tear it down and rebuild.

    good luck!

Humidity has been an issue for me lately whenever the air conditioner is running, so I don't think I will be an issue right yet. I will keep an eye on it and use the computer fan trick if I need to. Thanks!!!
