Hey guys, I haven't been on in a while (been crazy busy and taking on too many projects like I always do LOL). Anyway as its starting to warm up here in Colorado the A/C is now needing to be used. The issue is it seems to be messing with my frogs temps too much at night, during the day I'm fine, its just at night I'm having the issue. I'm personally with the frogs and like it in the 70's but the rest of my family are polar bears!! So my question is what kind of bulbs can I use at night that wont mess with their night time darkness and will give me a little heat?
Exo-terra's blue night bulbs generate quite a good amount of heat, at least the 50 watters. They produce some light, but not a lot. The lights is also supposed to be non-disturbing, with its blue/purpleish colour. It's not optimal for viewing the frogs, since it's not that much light and the colour disorts the colour of the frogs, but it's a goos way to produce heat. Add a dimmer as well and you can fine-tune very well!
I use the red bulbs and they are great for night viewing. I use 25 watt for summer and 40 to 60 watt for winter
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but what is a good nocturnal viewing bulb if you DONT need the heat?
you can get a 15 watt red aquarium bulb. or you can raise the higher watt bulbs up 6 inches or so over the top to view without much heat
Cheri and some other people here recommended blue LED for nighttime viewing. I have not tried it myself, but it seems good. It produce little to no heat as well.
