A big build

My husband is talking about constructing a huge vivarium for our whites tree frog and the hermit crabs. He wants to make it 5 feet long, 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide.He wants to put in two plexiglass dividers and make a water tank inbetween them that way both animals have thier own homes but still be together sort of. He is talking about putting a mister in the frog side and a waterfall on both sides. They would share the purified water in to lakes on either side of the water tank. He wants to put a waterfall on each side also. The only thing is he doesnt know if the plexiglass will be ok under heat lamps? He also doesnt know how to put the tank together. Any advice would be helpful. We have never tried to do this before. I want to buy a big tank for each, but my husband wants to do this.
