This just a general announcement that as summer approaches us please be cautious and aware of the temperatures in your tanks. Those super duper lights you purchased in the winter and you loved them for how warm they kept your tank they could become your worst enemy. As it warms up unplug your heat mats, be weary of that heat lamp and consider how much heat your lights put out. Some people may need to leave your house air conditioning on to help out. Remember also heat dries out your tanks so be aware of your humidity too.
Thanks Cheri. I'll be adding more ventilation to my planted vivs to help keep them cooler. More screen on the top and a small computer fans can help dramatically.

I raised my lights about four inches above the tank to reduce the heat. It is more of a problem in a dart tank which is more closed off.
I'm bumping this. Simple information, but crucial.
