I recently purchased this tree frog and it seemed fine and healthy the day after I brought it home I noticed dark specks all over his body. Its been a week and there not going away. It seems to be eating and moving fine I'm wondering if this is normal or if any one has some info for me thank you
Welcome to the forum, Tommy. Im sorry hear you're having trouble with your frog. Its hard to tell from a small picture what is going on. It might just be abrassions on his skin if he's trying to escape. If you can take him to a vet to be checked out. Is there anything rough in his enclosure. Frog skin is very delicate.
Cheri's right on. This looks like one trying to escape. You may need to add live plants. Usually those plastic ones are cause for damage to all frogs. You should cover sides of the cage with cloth or construction paper. It might be a wild caught animal and they won't give up trying to get out. The paper will show him the boundries and hill will stop searching for a hole in the glass. Leave these on until skin has healed, remove one at a time, days appart. If any of these scrapes get red looking(open sore) you can use original neosporin to stop infection.
Plenty of hiding places, big leaf live plants such as snake plants will make him feel secure. They don't walk on the bottom much so vines sticks, branches and so on are a must too. A quiet placce would also help so hes not startled routinely.
Added note: The Original Neosporin has no pain relievers in it.
