Toad ID with pic

I forgot I had this picture. I was living up on a mountain last year and I saw this toad(?) around August on my front stoop. I thought the hairs coming from behind it's neck were funny and it wasn't very afraid of me so I took the picture. This is a toad right?

indeed it is a toad, looks like an American toad from the rear.

I'm really digging frogs lately. I was cutting grass today and saw another one hopping away. It looked like my green tree frog but it was brown and grey with spots making it look like dead tree leaves and dirt. I wanted to grab it but thought "I have nowhere to keep it and I can't put it in with my other tree frog cuz I dunno what it is."
