Went ahead and got another one, this one can help out with eating all the plentiful food that the other one doesn't get to in time. But I was wondering if the new one wasn't the sub-species that is also suspected to be in the pet trade? It's slightly less spotty than all the others that were there, is way more black and the yellow spots are a deeper goldish color than the others. However it is still fairly spotty and the spots are pretty big. Here is some pics of the new one, Spot, very original name, yes!
Then here is a pic of the first one, Shrek, to compare to.
The one of Shrek is pretty color true on my monitor but the yellow on Spot isn't very color true, it's a lot more golden in person.
Looks like Melanphryniscus stelzneri to me.
Thanks! Probably just natural variation between individuals. At least it makes them easy to tell apart!
I like your taste in frogs.
