Hey guys i had a 5 month old bullfrog, I was cleaning his cage and he got really scared started jumping around everywhere. He landed with a bunch of coco fiber in his mouth and it got stuck to his tongue. He was basically trying to spit his tongue out and started doing backflips with his tongue sticking out and basically went all stiff and his eyes stayed open and he was dead. '
It was pretty horryfying and im really sad. So did he heave a heart attack from stress or did he choke on his tongue and intestines?
Sounds like he tossed his stomach and couldn't get it back in. We had this happen to one of our prized Pyxies. It sucks beyond belief and I am sorry that you had to actually witness it. I just happended to find ours on his back, deceased.
That's very sad. Sorry to hear about your frog.
Sorry about your loss. If you wanted a definitive answer, you would probably have to have a necropsy done by your local herp vet.
Hey Jeff Kennedy i think you're right about his stomach coming out and he was trying to get it back in but the coco fiber was stuck to it so he kept rolling on his back and probably couldnt breathe and went stiff... So tramatic im still in shock. Im glad i got closure to his death though. I will miss his croaking at night and trying to bite my finger.
How sad. I'm very sorry.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Chomp,
I'm soo sorry. We really get attached to these guys, and they become a part of the family. I'm sorry for your loss.
