    Default Enclosure cleaning tips needed

    Hi everyone
My frogs have been in their tank for about 3 months now and I'm thinking of cleaning them out but wouldn't know where to start. Could someone please help me out?
    Thanks Luke

Hi Luke..I would take every thing out and sterilize. Plants I just rinse off. With the glass..I use a handy towel and dip in boiled water and rub rub rub. Make sure the Handy towels are plain with no colours. I have a huge pot that I boil rocks and things up in or you bake on low to sterilise. I use moss in my enclosures that thrives and I change them a couple of times a year. Im not sure what you use in your enclosures..but this is what I do. If you spend time every day picking out the frog poops then your enclosure should stay reasonably clean. Water changed regularly though.

look where your frogs tend to sit..depending on the size of your frogs they are sort of like a rat/mouse poo...that sort of shape...sorry dont have a photo..lol

I did my first cleaning, and was suprised to find how clean it was. No dead crix anywhere. I clean poo, but thaught pee would have collected stink in lower layers. With the plethora of plants, I have less cleaning to do. I used vinager and water, it evaporates and leaves no residue. So I'll just have to spot clean hangouts ever week, and by looks and smell, maybe I can go longer than 3 months. I did find some mold, and I'll try to not mist those areas. Cleaning teaches allot about what's going on in there. I've heard to smell your tank to judge, as it will smell like amonia. I say clean it just to know what's going on. Poo tends to mold quite quickly, a day or two. U can get a strainer and clean rocks and stuff that way, for my coco husk I didn't use the vinager, as it wouldn't dry enough to evaporate, cleaning still took 3 hours.
