Default Found a gray tree frog in the house

    Hi,

We just discovered a tree frog hanging out in one of our house plants. I assume he came in when I brought the rosemary in back in October. I have no idea how he has survived this long. Unless he likes spiders, we've had a bumper crop this year in the house.

My question is, can we put him outside under the leaves under the bush he usually hangs out in? Would the temperature change be too radical. I really don't want a pet tree frog. I enjoy having him (or her) in the yard, but I'm not ready to tackle the feeding and care of him in the house.

    Any advice?

    Thanks!

It should be fine if you put it back outside. I'd place it somewhere moist in some bushes near trees, where there is some leaf litter if possible. When it gets really cold they will tend to hunker down in leaf litter, or in crevices. Release it at dusk or at night, and when there isn't much wind. That way it will have a chance to find a safe spot without being seen by predators, and it wont desiccate as easily.

Thanks Lamb. Leaf litter I have plenty of. I'll put it back under his favorite holly bush. This year I'll have to check my pots more closely before I bring them in. He looks a bit freaked out.

Don't be surprised if he's still there if you check again later. Glad I could help.

It helps to live next to the woods. We get all kinds of wildlife wandering through.
