Our 2 toads are getting settled in to their new home for several weeks now. They seem
to be happy.
I have about 60/40 water/land with about 2-3 inches of water with several islands, etc.
I have a mini filter which does a great job keeping it clean. I placed the filter under
several flat rocks. So the filter is hidden and keeps the water flow down.
However the toads decided that getting under the rocks inside with the filter is a neat
hidding spot. They have other rocks and plants in the water and land which can be
used for hiding.
We a little concern on them hiding with this filter.
Any ideas on why they do this?
I wouldn't worry too much-these toads are curious and rather comic in some of their behaviours. As long as they can't be trapped under there or sucked into the filter in any way, they might just like the feel of the water moving around them. I have a small filter and my youngest toad likes to sit on top of it...I honestly think he likes the slight vibrations. He'll even kick the bigger toads away just to keep it to himself!! I am sure your 2 will soon enjoy the whole tank-once the novelty of their own filter wears off!!
