Green tree frogs!!!

I picked up a pair of green tree frogs today from Sabrinas reptile kingdom in RI. I bought a smaller one and a large one hoping thgey are male and female, is that how you tell the sex of this species. i have them in a rain chamber and hope to hear one calling. i most likely will buy more to increase my odds. Any tips on breeding for this species?

It might be best to first learn how to take care of the adults before you start down the path of breeding them. Give them time to settle into your new home for them, make sure they are healthy and then do a lot of research before you begin the endeavor.

Their care and breeding is pretty similar to Gray Tree Frogs (see our article). The one exception is that they do not tolerate very cold conditions as well as Gray Tree Frogs. So don't let them get below freezing point in the winter.

Good luck! I am quite fascinated with my two new recent Green treefrog additions (I'm hoping for a male and female pair myself!) and I have learned quite a bit about them in the week that I've had them. Hope your two are happy and healthy!

The females are quite a bit larger. We usually have at least one female in our "local" tree frog viv. The reason we don't keep males is because they are LOUD. There will be no doubt if you have a male! They have a pretty classic croak that would make you think it was something the size of a large toad.

I discovered last night that I do indeed have a male. And JimO is not kidding-the males are loud!! I was very proud of my Pacific Chorus frog male being able to almost match him in terms of decibel range! My house was very noisy last night-it was great!!
