While taking my frog out for a photo shoot, I noticed she had this red bump on the side of her head. It’s firm, looks red like it’s possibly painful or inflamed? She doesn’t seem to mind me pressing on it, but I’m worried it’s an abscess. I don’t let feeders go in the terrarium, but it does look like there’s a small puncture. I’ve only ded super worms recently, but I didn’t think their jaws could do much damage? I have no idea!
I do want to note She was tested positive for parasites last month, but her and my other two frogs have since been treated and are parasite free. Not sure if it could be something related.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
It might be an abrasion from something in the tank. That's a best case thing and it kind of looks like a scrape or cut. Some parasitic worms leave bumps and maybe either they're not all out yet or they didn't die.
I'd keep a close eye on her, check out her skin and belly for signs of redness and bleeding, take her to the vet again if she stops eating or there are additional marks.
It looks like a cut, honestly.
Thank you very much for your response!
I’m not sure what she could’ve cut herself on, but these guys get into things you don’t think they could lol. I’ve heard about the tapeworm/parasite thing and it’s pretty scary. She seems normal otherwise but I’ll probably separate her out from my other two and keep a close eye.
thanks again!
