    Thumbs down White Flies

Hello. There I noticed that there were small white flies in my Pacman frog tank. It looks like fruit flies. Is there anyway to get rid of it without having to clean the whole tank? These flies might be a potential danger to me and my cat as well. He recently got a bump near his ear, so a bug might've bit him.
    Thanks for any help.

Just make sure your water stays clean. I had a problem one time with little tiny moths.

They are most likely gnats. They breed in stagnant water and survival around warm humid regions. There larva can be difficult to spot and if the whole tank is not clean, them there could be a few adults or larva still in the tank and will multiply again. I highly suggest cleaning the whole tank but if you cannot, do a water change.

Thank you! You said that they do bite. Are they dangerous? I have a turtle and a cat as well in the house, and will they be affected?

They also might be fungus gnats, which breed in wet soil and often come in on houseplants. I had that problem with my toad's enclosure; I had to pull all her soil out and replace it. I baked the soil at 400 degrees for 20 minutes before I put it in her tank, just to kill any gnat eggs or bacteria they might feed on. If it's fungus gnats, they're not dangerous to people or animals, just annoying.
