Thread: Any frogs that don't need to eat crickets?

Smile Any frogs that don't need to eat crickets?

I fed my old frog crickets but now I'm sick of the things as they escaped from his cage and infested the house. Are there any friendly frogs that don't need to eat crickets? I can only think of one off the top of my head (African dwarf frog), but I don't want an aquatic frog as I already have a terrestrial tank set up.
    thanks for any replies.

I agree, crickets can be annoying. However they can be convenient, and terrestrial and arboreal frogs generally require live insects. Other insects that can easily be cultured yourself include fruit flies, bean beetles, dubia and other roaches, and superworms. My suggestion is to identify a feeder that you are willing to use, and then identify appropriate frog species that could best utilize that feeder, and narrow it down from there.

Super worms are my best bet as they can't really get anywhere... Know any frogs that eat them?

Toads, Ceratophrys, larger tree frogs- almost anything with a bit of size. The downside is that superworms aren't nutritious enough to be used as a staple. Regardless of what feeder insect you use, you should offer your frogs variety.

Keep your frog but switch to dubias instead and maybe some woodlice.

Frogs will keep eating until they are out of food, which can make them seriously ill. I also agree that crickets can be annoying, as a general rule, feed your adult frog 5-7 crickets or other insects several times per week

My cricket supplier told me that if you put shipping tape around the top inside of the cricket container, they cannot jump out. I have cricket eating cats so luckily there are only a few escapees.
