I’m wondering if Whites Tree Frogs can recognize their owners? Seems like they have a way of “recognizing” you or is it more that they are used to you?

My guess is that they are able to differentiate between the various people that they encounter, but I'm sure they don't understand the concept of "ownership", and I don't think they bond or show affection.

I think they can recognize you and associate you with food.

I think the frogs will bond with one another in captivity and do recognize kin. They will not mate with them in the wild they can tell by the pitch of their call. I believe that they will bond in captivity even more as kin or opposite sex.

I think it just boils down to conditioning. Human approaches enclosure, it opens, human dumps food in. My darts all look up when I open the top of their terrariums for feeding. I doubt the recognize me per se but they definitely respond when I feed them. My dumpy could care less lol

I agree that they recognize food and are conditioned in that aspect but I believe that they may be able to recognize the person who feeds them. The Archer Fish was able to recognize faces and knew which one fed it and which one didn't. It's really interesting you should check out the link

I believe frogs to be smarter than fish usually and maybe we are just beginning to until intelligence of amphibians compared to fish.

My pacific tree frogs seem to recognize me and blink to me. The whites who i feed by hand also seem to recognize me as they act more excited when they see me and much less excited when they see my significant other. Our 12 yr old plecostomus fish comes to the tank front and rolls one ete at me.
