    Default Species Roll Call

What is your favorite species of frog to keep and why? Tell us the pros and cons that you have figured out while keeping it. I think this could ignite some great discussion!

Kaloula pulchra is the specie I've kept the longest and I find them very eays to keep, but I haven't tried to mate them. They are hardy eaters and prefer small and bountyful prey, like small crickets, runners, etc. They dig but can climb as well, but not like tree frogs.

I have a lot of favorite species, but for keeping, I'm going to vote for the good ol' American toad. Not very exotic or rare, I know, but they are easy to keep, eat great, have loads of personality, and are actually more polymorphic than most people seem to realize.

It’s a toss up for me between phylobates terribilis and litoria caerulea. They’re both crowd pleasers in their own unique way.

As for fun frogs... Trachycephalus nigromaculatus, Black-spotted casque-headed treefrogs. I have 3 and call them my monkeys. They eat like crazy, jump at anything that moves and tries to get it into their enormous mouthes, even if it's just a piece of dirt or one of their own. Thankfully they are all pretty much the same size. They jump like crazy, holding themselves into place with just a back toe, looking for stuff. They climb onto the glass and looks at you, just like they want to know what is going on. When I feed them, they also want to come out just for fun. I have little boxes attached to the sides of their enclosure withnwater and moss because they like to sleep in them... lets just call it fake bromeliads... doesn't look like bromeliads but serves the same purpos.

It turns out, one is a male, the biggest one, and he has started calling. He looks very funny, like he is blowing bubble gum out of his cheeks.

Crazy frogs, my monkies, always a laugh, and pretty too!

My favorite to own in order
    1 American Toad/Northern Leopard Frog
2 Gray Tree Frog/ Whites Tree Frog

My favorite Amphibian is the American Toad and I like tree frogs mostly they are where I am more experienced at and I'm the most passionate about. My favorite frog is the Northern Leopard Frog but all of the 4 species are very fun, interesting and unique in their own way. I'll be doing care sheets on them all.

My favorite frogs I wish I owned or hope to someday

    1 Fowler's Toad
    2 Wood Frog
    3 Tomato Frog
    4 Eastern Spadefoot
