Hi!

I have a simple question that I just can't seem to figure out.

So I'm planning on breeding dubia roaches as I hear that they are quite and odorless, and I don't really care for crickets which I feed.

So I've got a sterilite container, I have no clue to the size but it's spacious enough. So while I have the other supplies here is my question.

So I need a heating source that will produce enough heat for my dubias to breed. However my mom doesn't want a heating mat (fire hazard) so I was leading towards the ceramic bulb.

If I make the metal mesh bigger then the lamp so that it (hopefully doesn't burn the plastic lid) is this a fairly safe alternative? I know they like the dark so that's why I'm thinking a ceramic/incandescent bulb. Do I need a thermostat as well for the ceramic bulb?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Alyssa
