Default Need advice on care for injured Pacific Tree Frog

Recently, what looks like a Pacific Tree Frog, more specifically a Baja California Tree Frog, has been found living in my indoor basil plant. After taking a closer look at him, his right front foot appears to be injured. I attached the two best photos I have of his injured leg. At first it seemed like only a cut, now his whole leg is becoming darker and discolored. His toes also don't spread apart and he doesn't appear to use that leg much. It does not seem to slow him down, for example he moves around occasionally in his enclosure and when I tried to pick him up to get a better photo of his leg he was jumping around like a mad man. He also eats two small crickets a day and poops regularly. I don't know if there is anything that I can do for him, but if anyone has any advice that would be much appreciated!

I would also like to note that this is the first frog that I have cared for so any other advice on general care or information on Baja California Tree Frogs would be great! Thanks for your help!

you can apply (non-painkilling) antibiotic ointments like neosporin to a frog's injuries. Though if the infection has spread, all you can do is hope.

I'd find an exotics veterinarian in your area and see if you and your little one can get an appointment. I'm not familiar with how those injuries can look on an amphibian specifically but that looks like a spreading infection to me. Neosporin could cause the wound to close over the infection, trapping puss, etc in the body. Assuming it works on a frog the same as it would a person.

Definitely try to find a vet, you might save his life!

Hope your frog is doing better. Just saw this thread. When our frog nearly lost a foot ( was sewn by vet), we gave him oral cipro eye drops the vet prescribed. You can apply a drop to tge frogs back (easier than oral med).
