I love toads and was thinking of raising some American ones; however I realized that when they get full sized my 30" tank is probably going to feel pretty cramped to them, especially since there is a 6" "pond" at one end of it.
Is there a good Bufo species that stays relatively small? Like I said, there is a small pond, so if they are semi-aquatic that would probably work. The tank has a bunch of moss and small plants in it at the moment and I would like to keep it that way.
Thanks.
One American or Fowler's Toad would do well in that setup. My toads soak in large bodies of water so they wouldn't mind it. I think it's called an oak toad that would get like 1-1.5 inches and you could have a lot of toads in that setup. Maybe a Tomato Frog would be a possibility they are very similar to a toad. You could have a pair in this setup.

If you like small native toads, you could take a look at the Oak toads, native to SE United States. I don't think they are bred in captivity, but some of the Florida dealers offer them from time to time.
The Oak Toad looks perfect for me, thanks!
I did find some for sale online: http://www.backwaterreptiles.com/toa...-for-sale.html
