    Default URGENT: Possible Red Leg?

Hello everyone, yesterday I noticed what seemed like blood on my AGB’s front legs’ armpits and faintly on his hindlegs. See the attached photos. At first I tried washing with water but it wouldn’t come off, so I can assume it’s under the skin. He (not sure of the gender yet) is also lethargic, but this is sudden. He has been active and eating well up until 2-3 days ago. My frog has been with me for only 2 weeks.

Now I’ve read about red leg disease just a while ago and decided to act fast. I hope it’s not too late yet, whatever’s affecting my frog.

Unfortunately, a vet who can treat frogs is not available here, so I might have to do everything myself with guidance from you seasoned keepers hopefully.

Someone told me to dab an antibiotic cream without painkillers on my frog’s skin, but I was wondering if this would be the best action.

    Here are some details:

    Size: about 2.5-3”
Diet: B. dubia as staple and occasional superworms
Feeding Frequency: twice a day, daily; dusted with Repashy Supervite (My mistake here is I have dusted everyday for the past 2 weeks, also I figured I needed a calcium powder with D3)
Last Accepted Food: 2 days ago (he refused eating since then)
Enclosure/Substrate: plastic bin filled with drinking water which I also drink (no chlorine); recently I switched him over to cocopeat with a water dish.
Water Change: twice a day, daily
    Temperature: 30C-33C
Humidity: not sure, most likely >85% (I live in a tropical country and it’s currently rainy season so temp and humidity shouldn’t be a problem)
Do I have other frogs? No

I can provide more info and photos if these are inadequate.

    Thanks in advance!

Here’s a complete list of answered questions:

    1. Size of enclosure?
    -10”x8”x8” (LxWxH)

    2. # of inhabitants - specifically other frogs and size differences?
    -One AGB only

    3. Humidity?
    -Most likely > 85%

    4. Temperature?
    -30C to 33C

    5. Water - type - for both misting and soaking dish?
    -Purified Drinking Water

    6. Materials used for substrate?
-Initially water (bare bottom) but switched to cocopeat

    7. Enclosure set up i.e. plants (live or artificial), wood, bark and other materials. - How were things prepared prior to being put into the viv?
-Only a ceramic water dish is present

    8. Main food source?
    -B. dubia (occasional superworms)

    9. Vitamins and calcium? (how often?)
-food dusted with Repashy Supervite every feeding; I’m getting a Repashy Supercal MeD early next week for calcium.

    10. Lighting?
    -None

    11. What is being used to maintain the temperature of the enclosure?
-None, ambient temp here is already ok

    12. When is the last time he/she ate?

    13. Have you found poop lately?
    -None since yesterday.

    14. A pic would be helpful including frog and enclosure (any including cell phone pic is fine)
-Please see attached photo, which was taken 5 days ago. This was his setup for more than a week (just add an inverted ceramic dish). I switched him over to cocopeat on a larger bin but he’s currently back in the same plastic bin, only with moist paper towels and a ceramic dish filled with water.

    15. Describe frog's symptoms and/or recent physical changes; to include it's ventral/belly area.
-refused food for 2 days now. Yesterday he was still able to jump but now he’s barely able to move properly - he’s more like crawling today. He’s also very lethargic and doesn’t try to escape anymore if I hold him. Armpits of front legs and hindlegs have what seems to be blood beneath the skin. Also not sure if he’s bloated or if it’s normal for a baby pixie frog to be fat.

    16. How old is the frog?
-not sure, but he was about 2” when I first got him. Now he’s around 2.5”-3”

    17. How long have you owned him/her?
-15 days as of this writing to be exact.

    18. Is the frog wild caught or captive bred?
-Not sure, but most likely CB

    19. Frog food- how often and if it is diverse, what other feeders are used as treats?
-Fed twice a day, daily with B. dubia. Superworms are also given every now and then.

    20. How often the frog is handled?
-Everytime he’s fed. He’s transferred to a feeding bin.

    21. Is the enclosure kept in a high or low traffic area?
-Not sure what is meant by this.

    22. Describe enclosure maintenance (water changes, cleaning, etc)
-Most of the time my frog has spent inside a plastic bin with only water and an inverted ceramic dish so he can have something to step on in case he doesn’t want to be in the water anymore. I change the water twice per day, everyday: one in the morning and one in the evening.

Well sad to say he has passed away. What could have caused this sudden death? 3 days ago he was still very active. The progression is so fast that I didn’t have the chance to treat him. I’ll try to dissect him and see if I can find something in his gut.
