So I finally got Whitley to eat, which is really nice. Now almost everyday at 6 am he croaks, really loudly. Not completely sure why, any ideas?
The only thing I'd note is this behavior started a few days after his first wax worm ever. Maybe related?
I think croaking can mean distress but my WTF has also croaked randomly at times of the night.
Im not sure if the two things are related. I have only ever fed Oakley crickets, but I will say that he calls at about the same time every night (typically an hour after his daylight lamp is turned off). It never seems to last very long but its just something he does. Are you sure it is croaking and not calling? I have heard Oakley croak once and it was very startling to say the least, however his calls sound much nicer.
sounds like the croaking videos my girlfriend made him listen too a few days before we finally got him to eat, while we were trying to get him to eat.
I think what you are referring to as ‘croaking’ is actually him ‘calling’ which is completely normal in males. Croaking is a distress signal. They are two different things. There are YouTube videos out of each if you want to hear the difference.
