Default Tips on cleaning my Red Eyed Tree Frog.

Hi. This is my first post on the frog forum. I have had a Red Eyed Tree Frog for almost 2 weeks. He is my first amphibian and even though they are for the more advanced. I have done my homework. I am curious though on how to clean him. He sometimes gets the eco earth substrate on him and I just would like to know how to clean it off him while causing him the least amount of stress since I know that they are sensitive to touch and handling.

The frogs will shed the dirt naturally, when they soak. The best way to prevent them from getting dirty is to put down some large rocks or something so they aren't on dirt all the time. Not rocks small enough to eat though.
Some large, tough leaves taken from a place not sprayed with pesticides and boiled and baked to remove insects should help. Be careful if you go that route, though, I think I introduced nematodes to my tank that way.

I use a layer of leaf litter such as live oak or magnolia over the eco earth. Realistically arboreal frogs shouldn’t come into contact with soil often anyway so I’m not a big fan of eco earth. You can purchase safe leaf litter from most online vivarium supply companies.

I'm going to try that out. I'm also slowly introducing more plants into his enclosure so he has more stuff to climb on.
