    Default How should I save Froggy?

    I am appealing to everyone here in this forum if you have any similar encounters to save froggy. Thank you so so much for any advice rendered. He is suffering from bloated ness and he seems in pain. I’ve attached a picture. Hope to hear from you.


    1. Tank Size and volume of water in it (full, 1/2 filled, etc.)?


    42 cm x 26 cm x 17.5 cm , half-filled


    2. Number of inhabitants including all frogs and any fish?
    One


    3. Water source and any conditioner treatments?
    Tap water conditioned with biostress


    4. Water Temperature and how is it heated (if so)?
    25 degrees C no heater


    5. Water chemistry levels : unknown


    6. Describe any filter system including model and media?
    None


    7. Substrate type?
    None


    8. Tank set-up (plants (live or artificial), driftwood, hide outs and other decor? - None


    9. Main frog staple food and any treats? How often you feed?
    Crickets , once every 3-4 days


    10. CA, vitamins, and any other additives used (how often)?
    Calcium powder


    11. Lighting set-up and hours it's used?
    None


    12. When is the last time frog ate?
    3 days ago, force-fed. Hasn’t been eating for few months.


    13. Have you found poop lately?
    Yes, 3 days ago


    14. A picture would be helpful including frog and tank (any including cell phone pics are fine). Pls see attached.




    15. How old is the frog?
    Two years old


    16. How long have you owned him/her?
    Two years


    17. Is the frog wild caught or captive bred?
    Captive bred.


    18. Any medications in the water (treatment dosis and for how long)?
    No.


    19. Any salt in water (how much)?
    No.


    20. Is the tank kept in a high or low traffic area?
    Low.


    21. Describe tank maintenance to include water changes, cleaning, media changes, etc.).
    Water changed every 2-3 days

    What kind of water do you use? Bottled? Treated well or tap water? If it's distilled that can cause bloating.

    i use tap water treated with Biostress (anti-chlorine).

    Froggy has passed on this morning. He closed his eyes and went away peacefully.

    I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish I'd seen this thread eariler so I might have been able to help.

    So sorry for your loss. From the looks of it, Froggy had edema. It's usually either caused by an internal infection or kidney failure. If it was the second, there's unfortunately nothing you could've done for it, and it looks like that may have been the case for Froggy. I hope you're comforted by the knowledge he is at peace now.
