Thread: Repashy getting in tank?

    Exclamation Repashy getting in tank?

I have some young tree frogs who are currently eating fruit flies dusted with Repashy Calcium Plus. They're getting house flies and blow flies too but I've stuck with fruit flies as they're still fond of them and there's plenty of surface area so it's a good way to give them the supplement (bit hard to dust larger flies thoroughly.) Anyway, there's usually a bit of the supplement left in the bottom of the 'seasoning' container that I tip the fruit flies from into the tank. I do my best not to let any excess supplement go in but sometimes it happens anyway, and sometimes directly onto the frogs as they come out and sit near the place I'm tapping the flies into.

Basically, I want to know is if it's OK for the frogs to have incidental skin contact with a vitamin supplement? It's not huge amounts but I just wanted to know if this is something I should be worrying about

Just make sure there's not too much on the frog, they can get burns if enough stays on their skin for too long. Maybe you could spray them with water to wash it off?

    Thank you for the reply
When it happens, I've been nudging them towards their water with a leaf to wash it off (they're pretty tame.) Of course that means a tiny bit of vitamin goes in the water each time. It's a square glass oven dish so it's not so small - is it ok to rinse it off like that?

Yes, just make sure it doesn't get concentrated there! Good luck with them!
