    Question Sand in ACF Tank

So I've been a gravel user in my aquariums since I began the hobby. I bought some aquarium sand months ago, but never got around to using it. So my question to you all is, would you all recommend sand over gravel in an ACF aquarium, and if so, how much sand should I put in there? I'm erring on the side of caution because I know that the frogs can kick up all kinds of debris and I have heard that sand can mess up power filters pretty bad. What do you all suggest?

Hello PP , when I joined 1 year ago I was clueless and franticly asked for help, among many help post I asked similar question to yours! The reply came back keep tank bottom bare and I profound this to be 100% correct advice# For starters I can see how much ****e might need hoovering and know its not hidden in gravel or sand! Secondly I know there will be no issues with frogs swallow, so take good advice keep bare bottom after a while you get to like it that way as you know the tanks at least 50% clean

Can honestly say though! Due to my filter intake being so close to tank bottom and the fact the frogs swim aggressive time to time I have never seen a poopsy on tank bottem yet!

I don't recommend either sand or gravel unless it's large enough so they cannot ingest it. A bare bottom is easy to clean, but not very pleasing to the eye. I use river rock.

Is river rock hard to maintain as far as cleaning is concerned? And just how much larger is it than your standard gravel? I imagine food and waste would be easy to get lost in between the cracks.

I have sand in my frog tank. Waste generally stays on top of the sand and is easily removed by siphoning or netting. I agree a bare bottom tank is not aesthetically pleasing.
Sand can ruin impellers in filters.
