Last night I turned my light on to find something and I noticed my red eyed tree frogs eyes were completely black. I turned the light off and I stared to see some red again, is this a normal thing and will the light damage his eyes
It is normal for a frog's pupils to be dilated in darkness, which would make them appear black. Could that be what you witnessed?
No, a room light should not hurt the frog's eyes.
Light does not damage their eyes unless prolonged periods of time. Sometimes mine close their eyes immediately, they are pretty sensitive to light.
