    Default Hibernating American Toads

Hi guys, I am new to the forum and have joined as most of my research has brought me here. I have 3 American toads, 2 are a grey/brown Colour, the other is more red. The two brown ones have buried themselves and I presume are trying to hibernate? Their enclosure is kept around 24° c and at night reaches 20° at the lowest. The red one is always out and is still eating like a pig, does not show any signs of wanting to hibernate. Now here's the main question - I have to clean their terrarium. If I dig up the two that are hibernating - I'm hoping they aren't already dead - will this kill them? Or can I rebury them after the clean? They've been buried for almost a month.
    Thank you for any advice!

Seasonal inactivity as a result of cooler temperatures or shorter photoperiods is not hibernation. It is just seasonal inactivity. You can try to stimulate activity by increasing temps and daylight period, but most likely, they are fine being left alone.
If you need to clean the terrarium, go ahead. It will give you a chance to check on their condition. No need to bury them again, they can do that for themselves.
