Hello,
I have 2 FBTs in a 10 gallon terrarium, and I've had them in there since this past August. I was contemplating adding a third. Would that be a good idea?
10gallon seems a bit small for three toads, even for two of them it is already on the small side IMHO. Beware that the males can continuously harass females and even other males for certain periods (mainly spring time). Without sufficient personal space the toads will experience a lot of stress, resulting in 'boring' frogs; they will stay squished away somewhere in the corner for days. When provided with enough space and sufficient hiding spots however, the toads will become much more active and enjoyable to watch. Also not unimportant: the toads will be much happier. So to answer your question: I definitely wouldn't add a third toad to your current enclosure but if you have the possibility to upgrade the tank to a bigger one it can be very entertaining for both sides to add a third one. It is very interesting to see the group dynamics change. With some luck it will even result in eggs!
