I bought a pacman frog from my local petsmart the other day. Its about 4-6 months old, was kept in a 5 gallon tank and fed 5 crickets a day. Its been about 3 days and he has shown no interest in food yet. What am I doing wrong?
I'm keeping him in a 12"x20" space with 3-5" of eco earth coconut substrate. He has a water dish, 6" in diameter. The tank's temperature fluctuates between 75 and 82 degrees depending on the time of day. I keep things nice and humid. I have offered crickets, earth worms and mealworms, with and without dust. The frog just doesn't seem interested. The ones I'v seen online are ruthless balls of destruction, so I figure either the frog is just adjusting to the new tank and needs time to settle, or I'm doing something wrong. What do you guys think?
I would give it a few more days before you become concerned. Try waiting a few days before offering food again. This will lessen the stress as the frog gets used to it's new enclosure, while also allowing for a few hormone cycles to pass making the food seem more rare a commodity.
