hi, i was wondering if i should take of the back legs of crickets because of the barbs possibly harming the toad. thanx
You can. Larger crickets are pretty easy to grip and hold, and a pinch on the "thigh" area of the cricket is usually enough to pop the leg off, but I've only really bothered with doing so for my baby pacman frog. My Toads eat legged crickets no problem. If you're worried about it, you can de-leg them, but it isn't really necessary, especially, in my experience, for toads. If you're interested in other foods, Dubia roaches are a good option, and my toads are MUCH more than willing to eat worms, even red wigglers, which I've seen many people say taste bad. I wouldn't recommend them, since some frogs won't eat worms after eating red wigglers, but mine have no problems with them. Figured I'd add other food items because of the question in the topic. I hope this helps.
