Hi guys, first post I just setup my Pacman tank with a pond and fountain.

In retrospect I'm wondering if this is a wise way to go. Has anybody any experience with keeping a Pacman this way?

He was doing quite well with the planted bioactive setup I had. Springtails were thriving and it seemed to be going well. Wondering if I got over ambitious and if this is maybe just not going to stay as clean as I would hope.

Hello and welcome to frog forum!

I'm not an expert on pacman frogs, but i think you may have overdone it a little. The water will be difficult to keep clean even with a filter and it definitely won't be as easy to change as with a simple water bowl. In addition your frog, being a clumsy little pacman, may struggle to get in and out of the water due to the slope. I also fear that the standing water will keep the soil too wet, become stagnant, and promote the growth of bacteria and fungi. Also there's nowhere for the frog to hide.

I'll be the first one to tell you that most of my tank designs seemed great at the beginning but then were total disasters upon completion. It's definitely not easy and i haven't gotten much better at it haha. Especially with a big and bulky pacman frog, you'll want to keep things as simple and seamless as possible. Any fancy designs will quickly be destroyed, toppled and buried by the frog

Yeah, I took it apart and switched him back to his original setup. I completely agree with what you're saying. Still getting the hang of building setups so I look at it as a learning process but I felt real bad for the stress I put on him. I appreciate your comment. Thanks.
