You could get some toads. I have woodhouse's toads, and they're really fun pets. You could always get tree frogs of some sort, although many people prefer vertical tanks for them, they can be really fun. I keep Pacific Treefrogs in a long tank, though, and they seem perfectly happy.

Well, it depends what you want. Locally in Canada there are a number of available toad species: American Toads, Western Toads, Great Plains Toads, Fowler's Toads, and Canadian toads. None of these toads are particularly large tower, generally maxing out at 4 inches or less, just a bit smaller than one of my Woodhouse's Toads. Going a bit further away, to the US, Incilius(Bufo) Alvarius, the Sonoran Desert Toad is the largest Toad Species in North America at 8 inches max. Gulf Coast Toads at 4-6 inches max are also worth a mention. The problem is most of these are hard to find in the pet trade, with the slightly rare and expensive exception of the Sonoran Desert Toad, and American Toads, which can often be found pretty cheap.
Going worldwide to more exotic species, the Cane Toad, at up to around 9 inches is a standout. Others to look into include the Smooth-Sided Toad, and the Japanese Mountain Toad, which I want to get, personally. I hope this helps!
