Hey, so I have three FBT's and was wondering if the ABG Mix (4 Quart/1 Gallon) substrate from Josh's frogs would be safe for my toads. The ingredients are charcoal, milled sphagnum moss, fir bark, Josh’s Frogs False Bottom, and peat. I know that peat, sphagnum moss, and Josh's frogs false bottom but what about the charcoal and the fir bark? If the charcoal makes it's way into the water, would it harm them? I am thinking of using this soil to plant some Spathiphyllum plants and Philodendro plants and thought of using a nutrient rich soil with peat as that is what it said to use. Please respond soon! Thanks!
ABG: yes should be fine - they're not big substrate eaters. Frankly though it's overkill for them in my opinion - I would use eco earth (pulverized coconut husk) available in compressed bricks. AB tends to stick together better and not to the frogs but you'll pay a lot more $$$ for the same volume.
The plants should grow better in the ABG but it's not a nutrient rich medium - tropical plants will grow well in it though, particularly with a lot of frog poop around.

What do you mean by it is overkill for them?
