I've recently been looking to get another horned frog as I absolutely love my current fantasy and have another 10 Gallon tank lying around that needs filling. While looking at prices I noticed Ornates (regardless of morph) were almost always twice as much as a Cranwelli. For a fantasy I understand the price jump as they're only captive bred, but what's the deal with Ornates being more expensive?
It's probably due to the fact that Cranwelli are not just captive bred, but they're bred in large numbers, as opposed to Ornates, which are generally expensive due to their coloration (The same reason a Cranwelli may be expensive if it's a rare color morph), but also because they're bred less frequently to my knowledge, most are imports or even more expensive CB animals, which are likely more rare. As such, not a lot of vendors would want to pay that much money for a WC or even more expensive CB Pacman frog, when the can just order a large amount of Cranwelli frogs for less than the amount you'd need for an Ornate
