ADVICE needed Please!

My son and I have 2 African Clawed Frogs from Grow a Frog that we raised from tadpoles. (They are young, morphed in May). After researching, we have upgraded to a larger aquarium with a filter. I always use spring water and they have been doing fine in the unfiltered spring water. My question is, do I need to "cycle" the tank if Im using spring water? Or can I just add them to the water like I have been doing since we got them. Also, how necessary is a tank thermometer? The tank came with one but they have been doing well without. Would defo stick with cycling but ensure regular water changes ie 1/3 rd tank twice weekly using conditioner such as PRIME" and if you live anywhere the temp like to drop below 68* then defo thermostat,
As the foggies grow older ensure there is atleast 10 gal per frog

The optimum temperature for African clawed frogs is 70 degrees (F), although they can live comfortably up to two degrees either side of 70. Problems begin to occur when the temperature exceeds 75 degrees. When doing water changes, make sure the "new" water is within 3 degrees of the tank water. This will make for happier frogs. It is OK to use spring water but tap water with a good water conditioner works well too. I've been using Stress Coat for over 30 years for my ACFs. Using distilled water is a no-no.
