Hi! New frog mom here (I'm really surprised how much I LOVE these little guys!). I have 4 dwarfs and I KNOW about freeze dried food possibly causing bloat. Wondering....how fast and is it definite? I am going on a week long vacation and want to use an automatic feeder. I currently feed frozen foods but that clearly won't work (and no one to come feed them for me). Would feeding some freeze dried food for say 3 or 4 days be harmful?? I do have pellets but I don't think they eat them when provided (both Zoomed Frog pellets and I've tried Hikari crab pellets thinking they may be stinkier and the frogs would be able to find them better). I obviously don't want to harm them in any way. Also...out of curiosity, HOW or what is it about freeze dried food that causes bloat? Thank you so much!
I would suggest putting live blackworms in there. Blackworms tend to hide in plants and rocks, with one end sticking out. They live a long time, and your frogs will learn to hunt for them.
Blackworms are available at almost any fish store that deals in live food.
