Thread: Cardboard injuring frog?

    Exclamation Cardboard injuring frog?

My whites tree frog climbed into a small cardboard box while I was trying to feed him crickets and he got stuck. It took a lot of effort to dislodge him and him made a shocking croaking noise, I felt really bad but I could not leave him in there. Two days later he has red abrasions on his legs and belly, at first I thought it was red leg but it appeared literally overnight. Is it possible the cardboard box caused the redness?

Okay, if there are abrasions, then ignore my response to your other post. I'd check him carefully, see if there are any injuries to his bones, if he's hopping right. If there are any open cuts you might want to gently dab them with antibiotic ointment or bactine. But NOT an ointment with painkillers.

what kind of ointment out you recommend? He is moving around a lot and seems to be okay minus the gross redness on his undercarriage.

I'd only apply it if he actually has an open wound, not just redness. Neosporin (not with painkiller, read the label) would be fine, or a generic antibiotic ointment, or Bactine.
