Hi! My name is Trish and am new to this forum. I have two american bullfrogs. They have separate aquariums. I keep the aquariums clean and both frogs have a diet of crickets. They are 9 months old.
Recently I have been finding them laying upside down. I flip them over or they just stay there. Frog One has quit eating and looks like he is losing weight. Frog Two looks like is has a distended tummy.
I love these frogs and don't want to lose them. HELP!
Okay, there might be more people that could answer in the "True Frogs" section.
But lying upside down is really not a good sign...I'm pretty sure at least (I'm not a vet.) But normal, healthy frogs have righting reflexes if they get turned on their backs. If possible you should try an exotic vet and call ahead to see if they'd look at your frogs.
Do you dechlorinate the water? What's the temperature in the tank? Do the frogs get handled a lot?
Have the frogs been sitting in the water bowl more than usual? Are there any broken blood vessels on their stomachs?
