Hello, I got a new shelving unit from Home Depot yesterday and I'm pretty happy with it, every shelf unit has a 2,000 pound weight limit.
Since I adjusted the shelves in a strange order, will it still work as well?
Sorry if it is a stupid question, just making sure, lol. Thanks in advance
The spacing of the shelves is not going to significantly alter the structural soundness of the unit. However I am very surprised there are no diagonal braces across the back from one side to the other or at the corners. Perhaps the manufacturer has calculated that the top and bottom shelves being held in two points on each leg is sufficient.
If the unit wobbles, wracks, warps or tries to fold like a "flexible" parallelogram then I'd be very careful and look for something else or add your own diagonal brace or braces across the back from one side to the other. If you use one brace, it needs to be rigid for both compression and tension. If you use two braces in opposite directions, then they only need to be rigid in tension.
