    Default WTF's and UV lighting

I've been keeping my WTF's in two tanks of 40 x 40 x 70 cm. I supply them with vitamin D3 through feeding.

I've been thinking of adding UV-lighting in my tanks, but I'm wondering what the best setup would be. For reptiles I've worked with HID-lighting, providing both heat and UV. I wonder if one light providing both visible light, heat and UV would be a solution for frogs. I understand that the lamps I've used for reptiles would fry my frogs, but would low wattage mercury vapor or HID lamps work?

The UVB output in those lamps is generally unsuitable for frogs unless they are in very large zoo sized enclosures. For your tank size, a compact UVB rated at least 5% would be more approxiate and with a seperate heat lamp next to it for basking

You could also run a tube on reflector between the two tanks if the are next to each other

One tube above the tanks you mean? Right now the top is covered with glass. I would have to remove this.

But basically, you're saying there's now way to use a one light solution.

Whites should have good ventilation, the top should be ventilated not covered fully with glass, also some vents on the side for a tank that tall. Same goes for most treefrogs, no more than half of the top should ever be covered with glass. Poor ventilation = bacterial infections and prevents moisture and thermal gradients

Yes, it will have to be separate in order to be suitable for those tanks

Well, there's ventilation, one tank has about 1/3 the other has 1/2 of the top as ventilation.

There's ventilation on the front as well.

I would keep these frogs with a full screen top and the side vents, like the Exo Terra terrariums. The ventilation you have is more suited to dart frogs, as these need higher humidity, whereas whites are moderate RH. UVB lighting and a basking spot should be priority with Whites tree frogs
