Default Disinfecting A Tank Before Housing A Frog/Toad?

Hi! What is the proper procedure for cleaning/disinfecting a tank and all the decor inside before putting the actual amphibian in it? I wanna make sure the tank is super clean before putting the frogs in. Much help would be appreciated, thanks! 😃🐸

You can get frog safe (relatively safe) disinfectant and leave it to sit for 10 mins or so then scrub it clean a few times with warm water and let to dry. You only need to disinfect it a few times a year when cleaning the tank (warm water is fine most of the time, if the amphibian is sick, or when using an old tank. New tanks won't need disinfected just rinsed. Brand new wood from pet stores is fine to be rinsed also but it's best chucking used wood when it's dirty rather than disinfecting it with frogs since wood is porous. If wood is being used for that one frog you can boil it in hot water to clean it when needed. Used water bowls can be disinfected, used fake or real plants should be chucked

Hi, I use a product called Wipeout made by Zoo med. You may have to order right from them if you want it, seems to be abit a hard to find these days. When I got mine I got the guy at the reptile shop to order me a big jug of it. If this is the product Jason was thinking about they do say on the bottle to spray on the glass let sit for ten minutes then wipe clean with paper towel and your good to go. Even though it says you don't need to rinse it out I still rinse it a few times with hot water just to make sure. My frogs have had no ill effects from it. Some others use a vinegar and water solution or even a bleach and water mix but I'm not sure what the ratios would be to mix them since I don't use this method. Maybe someone else that does the vinegar and water or bleach and water will chime in and let you know the ratios.

That's what I use, but most of the time warm water

worth mentioning that spray this away from any existing tanks or frogs, in the yard or bath, any chemicals in the air where frogs are can be absoroped and kill frogs

Ya I only use it for few cleans a year just to be safe, but for the most part I do the same and just rinse with hot water.
