Hi can anyone help me? I have had two fire belly toads for about 2years now,
about 2months ago one died and now my other one will not eat, he does not go in the water,
he just hides in his cave, he has lost loads of weight and does not move about at all.
i am very concerned about him.
do i just replace his friend or will this not help?
How can i get him to eat?
frogs don't have strong emotions, so it's unlikely that the death of one frog would affect your other frog like this. your frog is probably sick, maybe from what happened to your first frog. try cleaning the tank and varying the food a bit. I'm sorry for your loss and good luck.

Can definitely say fire bellies toads are surprising communal and will spend all their time next to each other. They do feed better in groups, probably the competition that makes them more willing to feed before the other grabs all the food
2 years short life for a frog that should live at least 10. It could be that the frog died of old age if it were WC, but can you describe your set up and feeding/supplementation schedule?
