    Default Lighting smells like chemicals

Ok so i am setting up my first terrarium and we ordered the exo terra compact incandescent light fixture and after it arrived we opened the box and we were greeted with a overwhelming chemical smell so I let it air out all day and I took it back in and it still smelled terrible and burned my throat/gave me a headache. So i guess my question is, do all lights like that smell? And if not what lights do you suggest i buy?

If it's brand new and fresh from the factory then it's probably just the plastic parts gassing off. It'll go away after a while. How long depends on how sensitive you are to those smells.

Incandescents get hot and will add a lot of heat to your viv. I prefer fluorescents, they run much cooler. Other like LED's.

I'm not sure of the design of the fixture you're using.
If there's a hood you might check things out under it; be sure it's not actually burning some plastic part?
    Be careful !
