Question ABG under substrate barrier clogging my Waterfall.

I know it has been forever since I posted. Life has been crazy.

I had to rebuild my viv because ABG got under my substrate barrier and clogged my waterfall pump. Well it's happened again and I can't help but wonder what I am doing wrong. I tried the Josh's frogs substrate the first time but it would not let water drain through to the area under the false bottom fast enough. this time I tried bio-drain. same problem. and the ABG keeps eroding to fill the water feature causing more of an issue. What have I not tried?

Do I need to just go back to the Josh's frogs substrate barrier turn down the flow on the waterfall pump and tell my husband to drill the hole for the siphon tube even if he is afraid of damaging the glass? Get rid of the gravel layer under the ABG? Get my head examined for ever trying to keep frogs?

    Any suggestions?

    Lady

ABG is a special substrate blend for vivaria created by the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Some consider it to be the perfect substrate for planted vivariums and many companies such as Josh's frogs and NE herp have thier own version of it for sale.
